After work, Paulo met me at the nearby mall. Amidst the people going through the holiday rush, there he was, with JP and a girl. Just as always, he flashed me that genuine sweet smile telling me that he missed me. That sure made my tiredness melt away. JP smiled as he introduced the girl as his bestfriend. We exchanged pleasantries and told me that his bestfriend gave him a gift gesturing to the rolled-looking item wrapped in some fancy Christmas paper he was holding. I joked something about her being sweet with a sudden punchline asking where was mine. It took me by surprise when Paulo grabbed the gift from JP and gave it to me saying it was for me. Took me quite a while before it sank unto me that it was really mine. It made my heart melt as he kissed me sweetly.

We bade the two goodbye as we went to our favorite eating nook. We just settled when Paulo pulled another gift from his bag. It was from JP this time. It was a square one with a nice pleated wrapping. He wanted us to open the gifts at the same time only when I was about to, he gave his gift to me saying it was for me yet again. Caught off-guard., I swear I could have blushed at that moment. I mean, what could be sweeter?

The first rolled-looking gift turned out to be a white fluffy pillow. Something to remind me while he’s away for the holidays. Sweet. Brutally sweet. This guy sure knows how to make him be missed more. Damn I hate it when he makes my heart skip. The pillow kind of reminded me of that animated film about this cute girl saying that familiar line: “it’s so fluffy, I’m gonna die!” I was about to utter the same. I mean, what possible thing could I ever ask for at the moment? A loving partner, thoughtful gifts, and those disarming, satisfied smile of his. Priceless.
